From
Our Club President
Thank you for considering participation in
our First Annual Spring Wine Cruise. This event has
already had a lot of interest and tickets are selling
quickly, so I would encourage you to
purchase yours very soon.
We are limited to only 98 total tickets.
This event
will take place aboard Lake Norman's Yachta, Yachta, Yachta
(www.YachtaYachtaYachta.com)
on Thursday evening June 3rd from 6:30-9:30 PM.
Parking will begin at 5:45 at the Peninsula Yacht Club. See
our Fact Page for more
details.
This year’s event will offer several wines well as hors d'oeuvres to
compliment each wine by reataurants Alton's and XO.
Over the last several years, the Rotary Club of Lake Norman
– Huntersville has contributed in excess of $150,000 to local
charities including The Lake Norman Free Clinic, The Hope
House, The Ada
Jenkins Center, USO of North Carolina - Charlotte, Angels
and Sparrows, and The Red Cross.
This event is supporting
the North Carolina Community Sailing & Rowing
Center of Cornelius. North Carolina
Community Sailing and Rowing (NCCSR) is an
exciting new venture developed in partnership
with Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation
Department and is located on a beautifully
situated two acre site at Blythe Landing in
Cornelius on Lake Norman. This is the only
center of its kind in the region and the venue
is perfectly suited for small craft sailing and
rowing programs. NCCSR is less than five minutes
from I77 exit 25. The Center is a 501 (c)(3) non
profit corporation and is operated by NCCSR. The
Center will operate 9 months of the year and we
anticipate that 75% of programming will be
directed toward youth. See
this link for more information.
We hope you will save the date – May 27th
aboard the Yachta, Yachta, Yachta.
Yours
In Rotary Service,
Rich
Sampson, 2009-2010 President

A bit about Rotary...
The Rotary
Club of Lake Norman-Huntersville is a local chapter of
Rotary International, which is truly global in scope.
Thousands of local chapters make up the organization, raise
charitable funds and provide assistance to hundreds of
local, national and international programs and charities.
Our goal is to make our local community better by providing
assistance to those in need. Our local programs include
scholarships for local high school students, student
exchange programs, and other charitable projects, most
notably, the Red Cross Transportation Project, which
provides transportation to those in need of medical
services.
Our Rotary Club members share a common interest in serving
others, locally in our community and internationally. We
are a diverse and dynamic group. We enjoy a special
camaraderie at our regular weekly meetings, and in all of
our volunteering, fundraising and social activities. Where
else can you really get to know such a varied and talented
group of individuals? We hope you will consider learning
more about our club, even becoming a member. Most new
members of Rotary join for Fun, Fellowship, Food and
Philanthropy.
But many learn that the rewards of becoming Rotarians are
much larger than they ever imagined. We invite you to be our
guest for breakfast any Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30 AM at
Northstone Country Club.
