Wines and more...

The Wine MaestroThis year our Wine Spectacular will be featuring wines brought to us from The Wine Maestro of Mooresville, NC.  We are very pleased that the Wine Maestro has decided to join us this year.  They will be providing all wines and will also have wines available to purchase. So please remember to not only budget some funding to support our beneficiaries but also buy some great wines that will be there.

The wines that will be served will be posted in the near future, but do know that they will be great wines!

WINES TO BE AUCTIONED

We are most excited about some of the wines that we will have available for auction this year. To view pictures of some of this incredible wine visit the picture link HERE.

See the list below for the phenomenal wines that we will be auctioning this year.

Lake Norman Rotary Auction 2010  Live Lots

  1. Magnum -  2003 B. V. Private Reserve Cabernet  -  92-94 WS

Once the defining Cabernet of the Napa Valley, this bottling remains a high achiever even though it has given up its hold on the title to pricier, smaller volume competition. In this vintage, the wine is ripe if coming up slightly less dramatic than it was in the 2002 edition. Its richness and polish make it attractive now, and it can easily age absorb half a dozen years or more of patient cellaring.

Bright ruby-red. Cassis, licorice and bitter chocolate on the slightly medicinal nose; classic Rutherford character. Tightly wound and a bit unyielding, with dark fruit and mint flavors.

  2. Two Bottles – 1998 Dominus – Napa Valley Cab -  91WS

"Earthy, elegant and refined Cabernet blend, delivering layers of currant, tar, black cherry, cedar, coffee and anise, all sharply focused and framed by just the right amount of tannin."

  3. Magnum – 2001 Duckhorn – Napa Valley Merlot – 89 RMP

“It reveals sweet black fruits intermixed with subtle notes of new oak. Medium-bodied, elegant, and pure (a characteristic of all these Duckhorn offerings), it should be consumed over the next decade.”

  4. Magnum – 2004 Charvin - Chateauneuf du Pape -  90 RMP

“Charvin made a fine 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape which is a blend of 82% Grenache, 8% Syrah, and the rest equal parts Mourvedre and Vaccarese. The wine is classic Chateauneuf, a naked expression of its site and varietals with beautifully pure black cherry fruit notes intermixed with licorice, some roasted herbs, and a hint of spice and roasted meats. With its wonderful intensity, beautiful purity, and loads of finesse and flavor, it’s a beauty that is drinking well and should continue to evolve for at least 10-12 years.”

  5. Magnum – 2006  Marcoux – Chateauneuf du Pape    93 RMP

“The stunning, deep ruby/purple-hued 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape exhibits black fruits, licorice, incense, and hints of grilled meats and garrigue. While not as explosively aromatic or full as the 2007, the full-bodied, velvety textured, big, substantial 2006 is a top success for the vintage. Drink it over the next 15 years.”

  6.  Magnum – 2000 Rol Valentin – Red Bordeaux -  94 RMP

“proprietor Eric Prissette’s 2000 may be the finest wine he ever made at this modestly sized St.-Emilion estate. A blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, it exhibits a dense ruby/purple color with little evolution, abundant notes of melted licorice, black currants, blackberries, coffee, and chocolate, and a hint of toasty oak in the background. It is a full-bodied, layered, rich wine to enjoy over the next decade.”

  7. Two bottles  – Opus One – 2004  Wine Spectator 92-94

    "
2004 - Excellent structure, tannins and acidity, with sturdy currant, blackberry, fresh earth, mineral and a whiff of tar and tobacco. A remarkably complex and impeccably balanced young wine that flexes its tannic muscle on the finish."

WINES TO BE SERVED AT THE EVENT

Listed below is a sampling of the wines that we plan to serve at the Wine Spectacular this year and the Distributor making this wine available.  We also plan to have all wines served available for sale at this event.

Doubloon Wines each attendee will be given a doubloon at check-in and that doubloon will entitle the bearer to a sample of this very fine wine.

1. David Bruce Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 06 WS 91pts (CA)

“Aromas of ripe, wild raspberry, boysenberry and wild berry give this a zesty fruit profile. Full-bodied, intense yet elegant, with a nice balance among the acidity, fruit and tannins. Drink now through 2013.” James Laube

2. Larkmead Cabernet 07 RP 94+pts (Calistoga, CA)

“Composed of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, and 1% Cabernet Franc, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (nearly 4,000 cases produced) is a great buy for a world-class Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. It exhibits a dense purple color, notes of charcoal, creme de cassis, graphite, and forest floor, and a ripe, opulently fruity, rich, full-bodied style. Its endearing silkiness, multi-dimensions, and mature, sweet tannins suggest it has two decades of life ahead of it.”
